PRESENZA AGOSTINIANA
(Digital edition 2024 -no. 4 July-October)
30 YEARS IN THE PHILIPPINES: Jubilee of our return to Asia
Dear Readers, our Order made its return to Asia in 1994, when the first confreres arrived in Cebu City, Philippines. With the support of the General Curia, the first missionaries embarked on this journey with dedication and spirit of service, laying the foundation for a stable presence of the Order in the region. This return marked a rebirth of the Augustinian mission in Asia, where the Order had already been present centuries ago, bringing with it the charism and spirituality that distinguish Augustinian Discalced life.
Since then, the Order's expansion has reached other Asian lands, extending beyond the Philippines to countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and India. The Order's expansion in Asia is the result of a strong missionary vocation, which continues to attract young people eager to live Augustinian spirituality in the service of others.
Looking to the future, there are many projects and initiatives in the pipeline. The Order intends to strengthen existing communities, improve formation structures, and respond to new pastoral challenges emerging in each context. The presence in Asia is in full development, and with God's grace, Discalced Augustinians will continue to work to spread the Gospel, promoting peace and hope wherever they are called to serve. Happy reading.

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
that I may think what is Holy.
Guide me, O Holy Spirit,
that I may realize, what is Holy.
Attract me to you, O Holy Spirit,
that I may love what is Holy
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
that I may defend what is Holy.
Defend me, O Holy Spirit
that I may never lose what is Holy. Amen
St. Augustine
